Majestic Barbershop || Miracle Mile, Stockton CA || Master Barber James

A couple of weeks ago, we had the privilege to photograph the great barber, James. We weren't in his shop long, but we learned so much from him. There is so much talent in this one person, it just blew our minds! Did you know that James used to be a boxer?  Or that when he went to get his license, the model he brought with him wasn't allowed in, so he ended up having to cut the hair of a homeless man? Or that he plays the piano?  The list goes on and on. The best part of it all, the multi talented James, is one of the sweetest, most humble people we have ever met.

When you think about visiting a traditional barbershop, there is so much more involved than just a haircut. It's the experience, the diamond flooring you step on when you walk in, the classic blue and red striped barber pole, that's cleverly been transformed into a coat rack, the industrial shelving where you can shop for your favorite Suavecito products, (did we mention that James built those shelves? Yeah, he dabbles in carpentry too). The sound of music playing in the background, children laughing at a joke told by the clever lady barber, Amber!  Not to mention the sweet reward of a tootsie pop for a little one who braved his first haircut.

It's an experience you want to have again and again. It's not just business for James and his fellow barbers. It's family. It's learning, it's growing, it's joy. It's everything. This is Majestic Barbershop & Shaving Co.
